PTW x RyuCon 3
PTW organized this show, for the third consecutive year, in collaboration with Ryucon, an anime/manga themed fan convention held annually in Kraków. The event was held in Tauron Arena on Sunday July 7th, 2024.
For this show, a significant portion of the match card was filled by guest wrestlers from abroad, including 5 from Hungary. The guest performers were:
- Hungarian tag team The Gulyas Brothers: Gulyás Öcsi and Gulyás Vilmos.
- Hungarian wrestlers Blaze and Svedberg, both making their second appearance after PTW Underground 9.
- Hungarian wrestler Iva Kolasky, also in her second appearance after PTW Underground 12.
- Italian wrestlers Luca Bjorn and Rust.
- British wrestler Joseph Conners, one-time WCPW Champion and former NXT UK perfomer.
Build-up
- With the recent string of talent exits from PTW, and the organization's future uncertain, fans were speculating about PTW#6 being the last event.
- When Pawłowski and Ryucon both announced the show, speculation moved to the card - how many matches could they still build.
- Diana Strong vs Iva Kolasky was the first all-female main event in PTW. While both rivals have faced multiple times on the European indy scene, they only clashed once before in PTW at Underground 12, where Diana Strong was victorious.
- More matches have been hinted at, including a multi-man match, a tag-team match, and a surprise appearance.
- On Monday July 1st, PTW posted a match graphic revealing a tag team match. Except for Caravaggio, every competitor in that match comes from the Hungarian scene.
Svedberg has previously made a single PTW appearance, competing in the Contract Battle Royal at Underground 9 in a losing effort. Gulyás Öcsi meanwhile, makes his PTW debut shortly after appearing at KPW Arena 25, in a rare occurrence for the Polish scene, where foreign workers are mostly exclusive to particular organizations.
- Max Speed & Alex Brave continued their feud.
During the lottery stream, Brave interrupted Speed, telling him to "Speed the fuck out" ("Speedalaj") and received a superkick for his troubles.
He spent a few minutes laying motionless, while the lottery draft continued.
There was no further interaction between the two, but fans speculated it might be a build up for a future match.
- On July 2nd, Speed uploaded a gym video on his Instagram.
In the video, Speed was busy training, while Brave came in and interrupted him with trash talk.
Speed responded with the same and another superkick to Brave, then laid out a challenge for a match at PTW x Ryucon 3.
PTW later reposted the video on their Facebook, declaring that possible match is awaiting confirmation from Pan Pawłowski.
Contract signing
The day before the show, a contract signing ceremony was held.
It was located in the same arena that the show took place, on a set featuring the ramp, titantron and a table.
In a typical fashion for these ceremonies, wrestlers came out to random songs, not their usual themes.
- Pawłowski started with a short introduction, announcing the show, and briefly explaining what the audience can expect.
- Nano Lopez came out, and proceeded to cut a short promo in English before switching to Polish, declaring his next match is going to be the start of his road to the PTW Championship.
- While Nano was still on the stage, out came Erik Ŝlotir. In his promo, he prompted Nano to get physical, but Pawłowski separated them. Both sign their contracts and the match is on.
- Spartan was the only one present to sign for his match. He mentions that there were [300 Spartans at Thermopylae][wiki-thermopylae], but there's only one of him... so he needs fans to be his army. He got the fans to pop and bark for him.
- Next was Caravaggio, again as the only competitor for his match. In his rambling promo, he focused on insulting the fans.
- The Fatal Four Way for PTW Contract match competitors entered. Blaze, Luca Bjorn and Rust were present, but it was confirmed that Maverick will also compete.
Bjorn and Rust are a heel tag team, and they put down Blaze on the mic, but also confirmed that it's every man for himself.
Blaze cut a babyface promo, declaring he's made a lot of progress since losing a Contract Battle Royal (at Underground 9), and that now he's going to finally earn his contract.
- Diana Strong turned up next. Immediately signed the contract, and cut a babyface promo. She hypes the importance of her match, trash-talks Iva and gave an inspiring message to her fans: "you can climb every mountain with enough effort".
- Announced as "The Moral Compass of Polish Wrestling", Puncher entered next. This nickname is referring to his recent social media persona.
He signed the contract, and proceeded to put down the fans, especially cosplayers present, telling them that they are all losers who dress up to feel better.
Puncher reminded the crowd of his antics at previous RyuCon shows (first tearing a manga book, then burning one). He promised that the following day, they would get a dose of reality and a taste of his "Genetic Domination".
Pawłowski translated Puncher's rambling, confirming that Puncher has just made an open challenge.
- With speed befitting his name, Max Speed ran to the table, quickly signing the contract.
Next, out came his opponent, Alex Brave, who immediately signed as well.
They exchanged trash talk and started a brawl. Brave bumps Speed's head on the table a few times.
Later, Max tried to sneak in a superkick but Brave countered with a back suplex through the table.
GM Pawłowski announced that if they are so eager to break tables, then they will get the chance to do so at the show, as their match is now a Tables Match.
